Jeg beskriver mig selv som
If you like fascinators, skiing holidays, cruise ships, long lunches at the yacht club, enjoy fishin' & huntin' or revere Australia Day, then I'm not your man.
I'm a creative, energetic, politically progressive, balding, bike-riding, atheist son of dairy farmers, an NDIS career, and all proudly so.
People would describe me as passionate, engaging, loyal, empathetic, old school in terms of manners, cheeky, a hugger, direct, fit, spontaneous, sometimes disorganised, not always on time, a supporter of causes, and it is often said I don't look my age, but you can judge that for yourself.
I enjoy a chat and can converse with pretty much anyone I meet, so I'm well-qualified to be your handbag at functions or meet your friends and family.
I've travelled with my previous work overseas many times, mainly to Europe (especially Italy) and Asia, and around Australia for two years when I worked as a tour guide on bus camping tours in the flower of my youth; best decision I ever made.
I would definitely be described as social, as I have many friendships going back 40 or 50 years, and I'm blessed with a wonderful extended family.
I have a way with animals, and right now, I am loving house and pet sitting around Melbourne and Victoria, so I might be a moving target.
I don't own a home, and I don't plan on retiring anytime soon, so travel overseas is not on my radar. I do love weekends away and holidays in Victoria and around Australia. I'm fascinated with the volcanoes of Western Victoria, the Warrumbungles in NSW, and I'm really keen to visit Lake Mungo. Bike packing interests me, and I want to canoe the Glenelg River some time.
This past year, I was diagnosed with ADHD, which was quite a revelation. Family and long-term friends weren't so surprised, but for me, it has been a really positive experience. ADHD is considered a gift by some, for others, a nightmare. I've embraced it. It is at the centre of my creativity and drives the causes I support, especially the environment, fairness and equity in politics, and bowel cancer awareness (my brother died at age 47). I've recently changed careers, a topic to chat about should your interest be kindled by this profile.
I'm sharing all this because it will be revealed at some stage, so it is best I do so upfront, agreed?
I'm not afraid of commitment, but I don't want to rush things; friends first, then let's see what happens.
ACTIVITIES & HOBBIES
I have a lifelong relationship with art and visit Melbourne's and Regional galleries such as the NGV, ACMI, ACCA, The Buxton, Monash Gallery of Art, Heidi, Tarrawarra. I'm an avid photographer and I see photo opportunities everywhere, which could be annoying or an opportunity if you enjoy photography, too. I like visiting national parks, reading interpretative signs and stopping for brown historic marker signs. I'm a keen follower of politics and championing our environment. I LOVE cooking (would you like brekky in bed?), especially Jamie Oliver recipes. Because of the early death of my brother, I raise awareness for bowel cancer as a Rotarian and annually I raise money for Peter Mac Cancer Centre through bike riding. I have my own art projects I want to pursue, and I've exhibited at projection festivals in Italy and France.
MOVIES & SERIES
I enjoy going to the Kino, Cinema Nova, Palace Cinemas, the Sun Theatre, and the Astor. I love movies by Stanley Kubrick, Ridley Scott, Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze, the Coen Brothers, Pixar animations, some of Tarantino's. I LOVE 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid' with Steve Martin. I prefer not to see movies at cinemas that you will eventually watch on streaming services, so for me, cinemas are for movies that suit the big screen.
SPORTS
I am an AFL St Kilda tragic (but then, all Saints supporters are tragic), I love cycling (I have three bikes and a bamboo frame), and when I'm being disciplined I enjoy yoga, stretching and working out with kettle bells at home.
