A young looking 57; a little overweight, but in the process of lightening up. Though a wheelchair user I have some mobility; and manage to travel around ok. Laughter is important to me, it brings things into perspective. However, I do have a serious side and am very involved in disability politics.
To keep a roof over my head and the lupines from the door I work as a direct payments advisor. My work brings me in contact with disabled people and offers me a greater understanding of disability and its many challenges.
Injustice is something I detest and fight it wherever or whenever I can; crossing to the other side of the street is not an option.
Good music can turn me to tears, singers like Otis Redding, Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse I admire and I'm a big fan of John Lennon's music. My reading tastes are quite eclectic from Steinbeck to Zola via Hemmingway and Flannery O'Connor. From time to time I turn my pen loose on paper and produce poetry of a sort.
Any time of the year I like to stroll alongside London’s watery thoroughfare, the Thames. Whiling away an hour or two in a Bloomsbury café or coffee shop is quite nice too, weather permitting. However, nothing beats a cold wet February day spent under a warm duvet with someone special enjoying a glass of Rioja while watching a good film on TV.
