This profile is a bit different, but I hope you will read it all. I will start with the hard part, my health situation. A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with ALS. It is a neurodegenerative illness currently with an average life expectancy of 3-5 years, though some people live 5, 10, 20 years and longer (eg Stephen Hawking). So far I have had a slow progression, with my symptoms being slurred speech, some atrophy in my fingers and some weakening in my legs. I walk with a cane outside. Despite these changes, I lead my life largely as I always have. I spend my days writing, laughing with friends, enjoying the city, the arts and nature. I am blessed with wonderful friends and a very supportive family.
I am looking for someone to enjoy my time with, for however long that might be. Someone with whom I can: marvel at nature, revel in music, delight in colors and textures, and savor aromas. We will laugh at ridiculousness and be moved by the mystery of existence. I am not seeking a caregiver in any form. I have loving and dedicated caregivers in my life.
I seek romance, fun, flirtation, respect, and affection. Whether that forms a committed relationship (ideal) or casual but steady enjoyment and companionship, I am open. What matters is that we enjoy our time together and treat each other with respect and care. Friends describe me as a caring, honest, kind, funny, smart, gentle and emotionally and spiritually evolved person. Who am I to argue? : ) I seek the same qualities in the people in my life.
